Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the Associate Degree in Foreign Trade.
Specific Admission Requirements
Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide transition to higher education examination (YGS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are placed in these programs according to the score they receive from this examination.
Qualification Requirements
Candidates for graduation must successfully complete the courses in the programme (120 ECTS), and have a GPA of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale. Graduates who have successfully completed the programme are given the degree as associate’s degree in the field of Foreign Trade Programme.
Recognition of Prior Learning
The students of Mugla Sitki Kocman University (MSKU) can be exempt from some courses within the framework of related regulations. If a course content and its ECTS credit from another institution is appropriate and relevant to the one in Mugla Sitki Kocman University, this course would be approved by the director of the institution / faculty/ college, so that the students may be exempted from this course.
History
In the 2001-2002 academic year, the Foreign Trade programme started as a formal education. Students were also taken to evening education In the 2003-2004 academic year, There are a total of 80 student quotas in the foreign trade programme. 40 of them are formal education and 40 of them are evening education. In addition, a total of 2 academic staff are employed in the Foreign Trade programme.
Profile of the Programme
Foreign Trade program aims to train individuals who can work as a medium-level stuff or as an assistant of director in the foreign trade departments of public or private companies, B Carnet Custom Counselor Assistant in Customs Brokerages, founder and manager of their own Foreign Trade companies, employees in exchange departments of banks and in international logistics firms and use communication technologies efficiently and has well social relations. The Associate degree graduates may attend to an undergraduate program, if they have a valid grade in Vertical Transfer Examination. Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester.She/he is enrolled for. Students who have not attended at least 70 % of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. Once the student fulfilles the attendance requirements in theoretical courses, no attendance is required if the course is repeated later.Examinations are generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to conduct theexam in the form of an oral exam, project or assignment on condition that she/he states it on the course information form (syllabus). Examinations are arranged and conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within fifteen days after the final examinations are over.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the program, all of the compulsory and elective courses (total 120 ECTS) have to be fulfilled, minimum 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average out of 4.00, must be provided and compulsory internship have to be completed.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates can work as manager or expert in various foundations which serves in the fields of foreign trade and finance such as banking, export-import and finance hdepartments of companies, international logistics firms, broker agencies and insurance companies. The graduates may also be employed in public foundations such as Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Customs and Trade, Board of Capital Market. They can also have the title Customs Counselor Assistant.
Access to Further Studies
If the gratuated students are succeed in Vertical Crossing Exam (DGS made by OSYM), they can have the oppurtunity to have a bachelor’s degree.
